Constraint-Based Optimization is a concept associated with the discrete optimization that occurs in discrete manufacturing industries (production of distinct items).
Constraints Optimization is a branch of optimization in industrial mathematics. A class of algorithms will make it possible to evaluate all the possible scenarios for a given problem, indicate the optimal paths and therefore the best decisions to be made.
Optimization models can thus be used to simulate operating scenarios by including a series of constraints, such as:
- Temporal constraints: time required, delays, priorities
- Technical constraints: web constraints, machine technology
- Capability constraints: availability of resources
The limitation of optimization models is that they can only process a limited amount of detail before they become intractable.
